Rob spent 27 years in law enforcement, 25 with the NYPD and 2 with the Clermont Police in Central Florida. He attended law school at night when he worked as a Sergeant in the NYPD. While attending Brooklyn Law, he received the Benjamin Ward Scholarship, the Edward Byrne Memorial Prize, and finished in the top 10% of his class, graduating Cum Laude in 2009. After earning his degree he was admitted to the New York State Bar in 2010 and continued on in the NYPD, attaining the rank of lieutenant special assignment. Among other assignments, he worked in the police commissioner's office, the office of the chief of department, the Criminal Justice Bureau, the Legal Bureau, and other commands. 

While with the NYPD, he held several positions in the department's Legal Bureau as an attorney. He prosecuted forfeiture and nuisance abatement cases, defended the department in FOIL litigation, and served as counsel at protests and demonstrations. He also served as the Managing Attorney of the Police Action Litigation Section, where he supervised a team of attorneys and support staff, working closely with the NYC Law Department on police action-related lawsuits in both state and federal court. 

In 2015, he founded and was the inaugural president of Brotherhood for the Fallen, a non-profit charity of police officers, who raise funds to support the families of fallen police officers around the United States. 

Rob has been interviewed on television and print media, including appearances on: Fox News, CNN's Situation Room, One America News, and the New York Post.
